[chottala.com] Bail implications of Supreme Court ruling

Recent rulings by Supreme Court abdicating it's power on bail does not appear to be a good start for an independent judiciary in BD. The appeal by the govt. (executive) on the High Court ruling favoring bail was recently overturned by the Supreme Court. The question arises then, were the judges put in position by .........to overturn the ruling??

Afterall, in most countries, supreme court had traditionally been one of the last resort for citizens to seek justice! regardless of who he or she is. With the recent rulings on abdication, hence, favoring Emergency Powers Rules, the executive (Armed forces!!) branch is given the blank check to do whatever they wish without any accountability (and transparency).

For short term gains, BD judiciary in the past had made similar rulings by compromising it's  'independence'. This ruling will have grave repercussions if not followed with proper check and balance! not to mention that it will leave the impresion of  'Kangaroo Courts' to the outside world.
