[chottala.com] NRB Conference 2007, A ploy to mislead expatriate Bangalees - Attn:arefchowdhury

Mr. arefchowdhury

You have failed to refute the issues  contained in the posting and therefore resorted to your
variety of name calling and sladering through your lies and innuendoes.

I am not an Awami Leaguer, but I am very skeptic  about the real face of the organizers of
this so called "First NRB conference" in Dhaka.

Be it known to you, that many staunch and die-heart Awami Leaguers are also enthusiastically
joining this so  called "First" NRB conference. That includes, Dr. Nurun Nabi, one of the main
Awami stalwart in USA.

The main organizers M E Chowdhury Shameem and Dilara Khan are US citizens
came to USA under OP/DV  visa. Mr. Chowdhuri was an assembler at an IBM factory
in upstate NY where his wife Dilara Khan was a manufacuring engineer. While in USA both
Mr. Chowdhury and Ms Dilara Khan were connected with the pro-Awami cultural
organization UDICHI. The  couple left USA  about 2 years ago [during BNP regime] to
dig gold in Bangladesh and formed an NGO  called Scholars of Bangladesh.

You have many lies and oxymorons in your post which include "Tasneem Khalil was arrested
and briefly convicted on charges of anti-state activities and was later pardoned by General Moyeen
after  his release was begged by Mahfuz Anam on grounds of freedom of  speech that was creatively
abused in the name of human rights."

Be it known to the readers that Tasneem Khalil is a young man of extreemly high courage, moral
strength and value: He has exposed the attrocities and heavy handedness of the RAB and it's
associates in the government by his well documented & well researched paper .Judge, Jury and
Executioner - Torture and Extrajudicial Killings by Bangladesh's Elite Security Forces
a must read]

You have mentioned that Tasneem Khalil was pardoned by General Moyeen. With
all it's short commings we do not have a monarchy in Bangladesh yet. Neither the country
has became a fifdom of the Generals or the DGFI itself.

At this moment, no matter, how powerful Gen. Moyeen U. Ahmed is in his official capacity
as he army chief, he does not have any authority to pardon an individul who has  been charged with '
"anti-state activities" .  You have mentioned that Tasneem Khalil was convicted on charges
of anti-state activities which is a blatant lie. Tasneem Khalil was brifly arrested which was a
total abuse of state power. Tasneem Khalil has never been convicted of any crime or law breaking.
Tasneem Khalil was quickly released because he was a reporter of CNN  and continued repression
on him would have led to serious international repercution.

At the end you have just repeated ultra-reactionary jargons like "patriotic Bangladeshi",
"treasonous harm" etc. No wonder, Samuel Johnson had once said
"Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. "

Tasneem Khalil is a "Voice of Conscience" of Bangladesh

Uttorshuri and Drshtipat are wings of young Awami League expatriates paid by Bangladesh Awami League and run as humanitarian efforts.
Drishtipat is organized by Awami League expatriates Asif Saleh,
Naeem Mohaimmen, Zafa Noor and Daily Star's Zafar Sobhan (son of
leftist Awami public intellectual Rehman Sobhan).

Uttorshuri is an effort by Lopa Tasneem, the wife of Asif Saleh,
whose brother Tasneem Khalil works for the Daily Star under Zafar
Sobhan. Daily Star is a conglomeration of vested interests of the
donors and the international community in Bangladesh along with pro-
Ershad or Ershad promoted business community of the 1980s and the
radically pro-Indian faction of Awami League with Farhad Mazhar type
of leftists.

Tasneem Khalil was arrested and briefly convicted on charges of
anti-state activities and was later pardoned by General Moyeen after
his release was begged by Mahfuz Anam on grounds of freedom of
speech that was creatively abused in the name of human rights.

Tasneem Khalil, Uttorshuri and Drishtipat are on the watch list of
the Bangladesh government and these are outlawed endeavours of young
committed Awami Leaguers. There could be charges or arrest warrants
against those treasonous Bangladeshi expatriates once their presence
is known in Bangladesh.

If you are a patriotic Bangladeshi who know about the presence of
these individuals in Bangladesh, please call the task force hotline
to inform them immediately. Alternatively, you are advised to stay
clear out of the treasonous harm of these individuals by refraining
from participating in their activities.
