[chottala.com] Its time to act and stand beside the victims of Cyclone

Some of the scenes from the affected areas are really disturbing, specially the poor peasants, who are the worst victim always. Our 50-100 $ could be extremely valuable for a distress family in the affected areas. This is a life and death situation for many families, where no body had any hand…. .Unfortunately, time and again Bangladesh is being subjected to this punishment of nature….

This should be brought under the global campaign on climate change where Bangladesh is becoming one of the worst victims…with another hurricane named 'Nargis' is approaching in December.

Only donating some money is not sufficient. We as expatriates can raise this issue with local politicians, policy makers, scientist, and experts in disaster management with whom we have access in whatever ways. This is certainly a global issue, which demands global responsibility and effort.  Individual helps are not sufficient for sustainable solution of this big problem. Much bigger help is needed from international level to help Bangladesh. US, Canada, Japan, Australia and other developed countries government could extend greater help along with various organizations operating across the globe. In 1991, Operation Sea Angel from US did a splendid job. Thanks to Bill Clinton again. We haven't seen any such international effort yet.  Environmentalists worldwide also can play a bigger role and save life of not only people, millions of species including the Royal Bengal Tiger with which we are so proud of.

Please act now and help who are in a position to help…..!!!

Hi,
Many people are donating for the cyclone-affected peoples of Bangladesh. Besides donating money directly, you can also donate rice indirectly for the poor peoples. For this free rice donation, you don't have to pay anything from your pocket. Just play an online vocabulary game and the rice would be donated from the site's advertisers to the United Nations World Food Program (WFP).

A portion of the rice will eventually go to Bangladesh because United Nations World Food Program (WFP) is prividing foods for the cyclone effected peoples of Bangladesh. To know more about this please visit: http://www.bdwebgui de.com/free- rice.htm

R. Zaman
