জাতীয় প্রেসক্লাবে বাংলাদেশ নিউ জেনারেশন পার্টির (বিএনজিপি) আলোচনা অনুষ্ঠানে অংশ নিয়ে তারেক রহমানের সমালোচনা করেন শাহেদা।
"আমার কাছে খুব খারাপ লাগে যখন উনি ভিডিও বার্তায় বঙ্গবন্ধুকে শেখ মুজিব, শেখ মুজিব বলে। রাজনীতির কথা বাদই দিলাম, আমাদের পারিবারিক শিষ্টাচার কী বলে? সে একটা বিশ্ব বেয়াদব। নানার বয়সী একজন নেতাকে নাম ধরে ডাকে।"
লন্ডনে থেকে বিএনপির জ্যেষ্ঠ ভাইস চেয়ারম্যানের ভিডিও বার্তা পাঠানোর সমালোচনাও করেন তিনি।
"তারেক সাহেব লন্ডনে বসে বসে ভিডিও বার্তায় নেতাকর্মীদের রাস্তায় নামার নির্দেশ দেন। নেতাকর্মীরা কোনও মায়ের সন্তান নন? তারা রাস্তায় নামবেন, লাশ হবেন, জেলে যাবেন। আর উনি দামি স্যুট পরে ভিডিও বার্তা পাঠাবেন।"
"আপনি আসুন, মামলা ফেইস করুন। জেলে যান। তারপর জনগণ জেল থেকে বরণ করে নেবে," খালেদা জিয়ার ছেলের উদ্দেশে বলেন তিনি।
