Great news for the Muslim community in and around Maryland, Virgina and Washington DC region, perhaps first in the United States of America!
First:
MontgomeryCounty (Maryland) Executive Hon. Isiah Leggett attended at the Germantown Sports Complex, Maryland for the Muslim Eid observance. For the first time in history a high profile elected official attended at an Eid celebration to show support. Approximately, 5,000 thousand Muslims attended at the prayer service.

Secondly:
The first Annual Friendship Picnic on Sunday, October 13, 2013 drew hundreds of people from various ethnic and faith traditions (Christian, Muslim, Jews, Hindu, Buddhist, etc.) to the Wheaton Regional Park, Maryland. The picnic was co-sponsored by the Office of Human Rights, Human Rights Commission, Committee on Hate/Violence and the CountyExecutive's Faith Community Working Group of Montgomery County, Maryland.
