Shahbag Movement: Sweet sound of the national anthem echoing all over...

Thirteenth Day :: This morning the whole nation sang the national anthem and raised the national flag wholeheartedly to support the Shahbag movement. Shahbag protesters called to abort Jamaat's hartal on Monday. Meanwhile people have gathered in huge numbers to attend to Shahbag demonstration which is held for 12 consecutive days long since the verdict of war criminal Abdul Quader Mollah.

Blogger Rajib's dead body is transported to his village home at Kapasia, Gazipur. He will be buried there. ||

Rajib monument at Shahbag

  • A temporary monument is expected to be raised at Shahbagh in memory of Rajib Haider, whose murder appears to have intensified the protests.
  • The monument is expected to be unravelled near the fountain at the Shahbagh intersection at 3:00pm on Sunday.
  • Blogger Nazrul Islam Sujan has displayed the design of the monument to the protestors at Shahbagh by holding it up.
  • Blogger and Online Activist Network's Rowshan Jhunu described Rajib as the 'first martyr of Second Liberation War', saying the present generation will fight it out to achieve the dreams on which Bangladesh was founded.
  • "We don't want to see any more bodies… If one more scratch falls on any of the protestors at Shahbagh… Consequences will be dangerous."

    Rajib's death will add to our strength, she said.

    -- Thousands attended young blogger Ahmed Rajib's Namaz-e-Janaza at Shahbag in the evening, performed by the Dhaka University Central Mosque Imaam, Dr. Syed Emdaduddin.

    -- Rajib's dead body arrived at Gono Jagoron Moncho, Shahbag. Thousands wait to attend the Namaz-e-Janaza at the venue.

    -- Post Mortem report says, at least 7 vital hits were found in Rajib's dead body. 6 of them were thrashed on his head. Dhaka Medical College forensic lecturer Dr. Sohel Mahmud said the whips were so deep that one would have killed anyone.

    -- Demonstrators in Khunla called 1-hour shut from 5-6pm on Sunday to confirm capital punishment to the war criminals.

    -- Retired professor of physics from Pakistan Pervez Hoodbhoy, writes an article at The Express Tribune, describing the recent situation of Shahbag and how bad he feels for theLiberation War in 1971.
